fine line & paramedical tattoos

Tattoos I did in 2023 :)

Hi, I'm Sasha! I am a new tattoo artist, doing it on the side of my full-time admin job, however, my goal is to make it into a career. I have a bunch of tiny tats of my own and have always thought about doing it, but didn't really jump on it until 2023.

Right before COVID I came across Jody Stoski's paramedical tattoo work and immediately fell in love. Nothing is more satisfying than those before and after photos! I admired from afar until 2023 when I realized I could actually literally do this myself... so I did! In order to take the online course of hers that I needed to get started, I needed to have about a year of regular tattoo experience, so I got to work getting certified in a tiny tat course and getting some additional courses in online. A few months later I started tattooing friends and family, and started venturing into finally offering paramedical tattoos in early 2024.

What are paramedical tattoos? Paramedical tattoos, if done correctly, are tattoos you can't see. The paramedical tattoo umbrella includes areola tattoos, scar, burn, and stretch mark camouflage, turning radiation markers into freckles, scalp micro-pigmentation, and more. As of June 2024, (in addition to fine line & tiny tattoos,) I'm only offering the stretch mark/scar camouflage and radiation marker tattoos until I get my skills sharpened.

Paramedical tattooing is important because it allows for a different type of healing to be able to move on. Whether your scar is a reminder of a trauma, your stretch marks are your biggest insecurity, your radiation marker(s) are a constant reminder of your cancer treatments, or whether you have no attachment either way and would just like to not have to look at it every day, paramedical tattooing might be for you.

Important notes: If you recently had surgery or chemotherapy resulting in the scar or radiation marker, or your stretch marks are still pink or haven't been white for a minimum of 12 months, you'll have to wait until everything is settled and healed or until your doctor gives you the green light. Additionally, stretch mark and scar tattoos require that the area of treatment is 100% tan-free. Come as pale as humanly possible: no fake tan, no tanning drops, no bronzer, no coverup, no tanning beds or from the sun. The tattoo works by camouflaging the area to match the surrounding skin, but the ink will not tan with your skin or fade as your tan fades. If you get a camouflage treatment on tan skin, when your tan fades, the affected area will stay true to the colour of the ink that was deposited during the tattoo. These tattoos are just as permanent as regular tattoos, and anyone that says they are semi-permanent hasn't been properly educated on the technique or this type of treatment. That being said, you may need occasional touch-ups to keep it looking fresh.

What are your prices? Radiation marker camouflage tattoos are done by donation or on a pay-what-you-can basis, as it's such a quick procedure but I am still a brand new business and still need to afford to replace the supplies used in your treatment - any amount is greatly appreciated! Scar and stretch mark camouflage tattoos typically require a minimum of three treatments to get the desired effect, and their prices vary based on size, but start at $300 (total for three sessions). Fine line and tiny tattoos start at $100, but also vary depending on size and whether colour is being used (I typically do exclusively black but can incorporate red, white, and pink).
