Fake Good Hair

tdlr; i realized a couple years ago that i'm hot with bangs, but i can't commit irl

Blog topic suggestion: Bangs and hair for normal people who don't want to do a bajillion things
gigi, i see u & ur suggestion ;)

This is an unsponsored post. Partly because I didn't ask for them to pay me or promote me or sponsor me or whatever; Partly because they wouldn't promote me anyway because I know 10 people, and those 10 people don't even read my blog; Wholly because I don't understand how that shit works (if you do, please help a girl out... I have bills to pay).

This suggestion is oddly specific, yet somehow so vague. I think you're telling me I have good hair, in which case thank you :) I think I'll tackle this by "reviewing" the company that I get my extensions from (bangs, not length) and then showing off some youtubers that I go to when I'm feeling blah about my own hair. (As for shampoo and conditioner tho I really like Garnier Whole Blends, and Honey Treasures is my favourite scent or whatever. I'm thinking about trying Function of Beauty because my sister's had it for a year & really enjoys it, but I don't have the money ... lol.)

The first 3 photos in this set are me with actual, real bangs. The rest (10ish years later lmao) are fake. Can you even tell? When I had real ones I was in middle and high school and I just didn't do anything to make myself presentable. I didn't wear makeup, I didn't 'do' my hair unless it was being straightened... I was the lowest-maintenance I've ever been. I love the bangs way too much to say goodbye!

They're so so cute. Quirky. Stylish. Edgy. Beautiful. Complementary. But they're so much god damn work. The only reason I won't actually cut them now like I did back then, is because I have like three new cowlicks and also whenever I've cut side bangs in the past it takes FOREVER to grow out, and the rest of my hair has no issue growing back. It's like my face-framing hairs are out to get me... so I turned to clip-ins! I started with the cheapest ones I could find on Amazon to make sure I still liked myself with bangs -- I did. These ones were never the right colour though and I couldn't style them because they were cheap plastic. In April 2019 I discovered (cue the angel music) Insert Name Here Hair (INH). They have a billion different wigs and extensions BUT ALSO BANGS (aka Zooey). Real, human-hair, gorgeous bangs. These are the ones I'm wearing in photos 4-7 (shade Black Brown - is PERFECT for my root colour). They kinda go on top of your head like a toupee in order to provide a more seamless transition to your real hair, and clip-in in three places to make sure it doesn't move. In 2019 they only had a few shades but have since expanded so, so much and have a shade for probably every hair colour out there - But if they don't, they offer free matching if you DM them on instagram and let them creep your photos. Or, you can always bring it to a stylist to dye it to the perfect shade. (That's it. That's my secret to sexy bangs - they're not real.. lmao.)

As for the rest of my hair, I don't do anything to it basically ever. I don't use masks (am afraid because my hair can be SO greasy if I fuck up my routine - if you have good hair mask suggestions I am always always open to em, just DM me), I barely ever use heat curl or straighten it, and even more rarely do I blow-dry it. I just kinda let it be. I also almost never brush it either, because it's half curly and half wavy and if I brush it, it becomes puffy like Hermione's hair in the first HP movie. I have recently started dyeing it - I did red a few years ago (like an ombre situation but it didn't look too good looking back?), and then earlier this year I got blonde balayage for the first time in YEARS. Once that started fading I temporarily dyed the blonde pink (at home, box dye lol oops) and I loved that but it obviously didn't last long. I'm waiting until the pink is super gone (so my hairstylist doesn't hate me) and then I'll probably go back to my root colour.

I'm very much a half-up fan, and I am a master at the perky ponytail even though I HATE wearing my hair all the way up (no-chin-neck-separation-but-not-quite-double-chin gang?). So when I need extra enthusiasm for a hair do I turn to my main favourite hair youtubers (give em a quick look and they'll literally speak for themselves):

Kayley Melissa (been following her for agesss)

Mirella Belle Beauty (so sweet and very real, down to earth)

Allegra Shaw (out of Toronto!)

Brad Mondo (general hair stuff)

I also follow them for style tips and general entertainment.

I hope any or all of this helped, it's all I know how to offer currently! I have high hopes for my hair because it's always been a favourite feature of mine (constant compliments, big flex I know) but I just never have the energy because I have so much of it. If you like any of these youtubers or get anything from INH show me on ig!!
